My brother, who has been battling Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) for the past 7 months finally got to go for his first swim at the beach about 4 days ago.
The man to the right is my father, Rob.
Liams cancerous tumour had to be cut out, meaning his knee was replaced with steel & foreign bone from America, and he also has a large skin graft on his leg. So none of this can get wet, hence the immense amounts of glad wrap & duct tape around his leg.
My brother, Liam, is well known in the Northland beaches for his surfing & love for the water, and also his skating. But, with where the cancer developed (on his right knee), he has been deemed to never skate nor surf again, he isn’t even supposed to be swimming yet.
But, no matter what anyone says to Liam, he has determination to surf & skate again, and I think that Liam deserves a place on my blog because he is the biggest fighter I know.
I personally think this photo deserves more reblogs than a skinny, tanned girl with an indie bikini on, but then again, each to his own.
We take so much for granted, but I am so happy Liam is my brother because he’s made me realise that I need to appreciate life & just; be.Posted on Jan 16 with 38 notes
